Town Council Supporting Changes To Former Turnbull’s Shop

The owners of the former Turnbull’s café and deli building want to redesign its interior. Shaftesbury Town Council has supported a request for planning permission to remove part of an internal stone wall in the Grade II listed property.

The changes to the High Street premises would open up the view into the kitchen from the front, making the property, “more suitable to current restaurant and café design.”

“It is empty at the moment and we would love to see somebody else in there,” said Councillor Lester Taylor at Tuesday’s Shaftesbury Town Council meeting. “They just want to make some minor interior adjustments. We supported it because we think it is important that the landlord can get somebody in quickly and we can keep the town as vibrant as possible.”

The application will now go before North Dorset District Council planners.
