One lucky Shaftesbury shopper will win a hamper filled with goodies donated by our independent town centre businesses. Shaftesbury Chamber of Commerce has arranged a window competition to celebrate the Shaftesbury Food Festival on Sunday 12thMay.
“Chamber member Karen Hardwick, who is the new owner of Cranbornes has organised everything,” said Chamber of Commerce Chairman David Perry. “Each shop has an item of food or drink in their window that is relevant to the country they have been given. People can pick up an entry form from Cranbornes. They go around the participating shops, identified by a sign in the window, and put the relevant country against the shop on the form.” There are 26 shops taking part and 26 countries to match to the businesses.
David admits that he has gone slightly ‘over the top’ at Shaftesbury Wines, by decorating his window with items from the nation he was given. He’s filled the space with croissants, the tricolour and a defaced election poster of Marine Le Pen. “I missed the brief and did an entire window display,” David laughed.
“The shopkeepers have been extra generous and someone will win a hamper filled with a cornucopia of goodies. The prize will go to the person who gets all 26 shop window displays correct. If a number of people get the answers right we will have a draw,” said David.
You will need to drop off your completed entry form at Cranbornes by 1pm on Sunday 12th May. The draw takes place at 2pm that afternoon.
