Shaftesbury’s Lloyds Bank has been closed today, following the tragic discovery this morning of man’s body in the lobby of the High Street branch.
Laura, one of the Thursday market traders, told Alfred that she was setting up her stall opposite the bank when a customer entered the atrium to use the cashpoint. The local woman found a man lying on the floor. The man was not responsive when the she tried to speak with him. She called an ambulance and the ambulance service alerted the police, just before 9am. Officers then cordoned off the bank.
Dorset Police say that the man’s next-of-kin are yet to be informed and the coroner has been notified. Officers are not treating this death as suspicious.
Lloyds Bank did not have a statement to share but they say they expect the branch to reopen tomorrow.
