Planning German Markets And Building Igloos On A Shaftesbury Farm

If you’ve visited one of the German markets that fill the central squares of larger British towns and cities at this time of the year, you may be surprised to know that these events are arranged from Shaftesbury.

Constantin Wasilev of German Events Ltd took Alfred on a tour of the workshop at Hawkers Hill Farm. Here, craftsmen build the wooden chalets that sell gluhwein and bratwurst at these festive fairs.

During lockdown, the company has started building igloos – self-contained globes for socially distanced drinking or dining. These structures are built with local wood sourced from Ansty. And they’re selling well.
