New House Building Target Could Put North Dorset Countryside At Risk

The Dorset branch of the countryside charity, CPRE, warns that Dorset Council and BCP’s annual homebuilding target could be increased by 48%.

The Shaftesbury area would need to shoulder its share of 4,458 new homes built each year. CPRE’s Peter Bowyer tells us how he would like Dorset Council to respond to the government.

CPRE has published its findings in a new report, which also states that many of Dorset’s new homes are being bought by retirees who want to relocate to our area. Peter suggests how the housing needs of local residents could be met.
