Shaftesbury’s Chamber of Commerce is committed to a Christmas market on the 29th of November.
Chairman Virginia Edwyn-Jones says coronavirus restrictions mean the volunteers have had to rethink how they mark the occasion. The traditional Christmas light switch-on celebration won’t take place and children won’t be able to visit Santa inside the Town Hall. But Virginia hopes to find a way to involve Father Christmas in the event.
The Chamber has also discussed whether daytime traffic restriction should be maintained on Sundays. Virginia explains why the 9am to 4pm closure will remain, seven-days-a-week, for now.
