Amateur historian Bob Kelley drew up in Shaftesbury. He remembers his childhood in his parent’s bakery on the High Street, where Weldmar was based until recently.
Tomorrow (Thursday), Bob will present an online talk for members of Shaftesbury’s U3A group.

The bakery of Bob’s family was in the former Weldmar shop
Bob explains how the Industrial Revolution, the introduction of the railway through Gillingham and the growth of northern towns decimated Shaftesbury’s economy and forced many residents to find new lives overseas.
