Shaftesbury Town Council has again discussed restricting motor vehicle access to Park Walk.
There are concerns about the safety of pedestrians when unauthorised drivers park on the promenade, which is a scheduled ancient monument. In October, councillors discussed stretching a chain across the roadway. That now appears to be off the agenda.
A resident has shared his solutions with the meeting. The Council will look into signage and placing a physical structure across Park Walk. But Tuesday’s council meeting heard that bureaucracy and regulations limit what the Town Council can do to tackle the problem.
