The St Edward’s Way is featured in a new book on pilgrimage routes.
The walk links Shaftesbury and Wareham. It follows the procession route which accompanied the body of King Edward the Martyr to Shaftesbury Abbey in the 10th century.
Guy Hayward of the Pilgrim Trust and writer Nick Mayhew-Smith tell Alfred why they included this walk in ‘Britain’s Pilgrim Places’. Guy says the timing of the book’s release is perfect because interest in walking has soared. “This is a new story for travel to give journeys purpose,” he says.
