An Ashmore-based forestry worker has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his service to the industry.
Colin Elford says he’s pleased that his parents will be able to see his medal. The 65-year-old ranger was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday honours at the weekend.
Colin has been highly praised for his debut nature book ‘A Year In The Woods’, published by Penguin. He tells Alfred why he is so passionate about the woodland of the Shaftesbury and Cranborne Chase areas.
