The Woman Who Left Academia In America To Build Walls In Wales – Hear Whitney’s Inspiring Story

Professional dry stone waller and author, Whitney Brown, is the special guest at Shaftesbury’s Seasons Café tomorrow evening, Thursday.

Whitney grew up in Virginia, USA. She was academically gifted and following university studies she was offered a position at the prestigious Smithsonian Institute. But Whitney knew that something wasn’t right. When she met a stone wall craftsman visiting the museum, she knew she had found her vocation. And with it came a new life – in rural Mid Wales.

Whitney will read excerpts from her book, ‘Between Stone and Sky’ which tells her incredible story. She will talk about this traditional stone craft still used in upland Britain. But her experiences may also inspire anyone who feels stuck in a rut and yearns for a more fulfilling path. Whitney’s words may encourage you to follow your heart – and find happiness working with your hands.

The event is being held from 7pm to 9pm on 28th October at Seasons Café. Tickets are £12.50 and include a welcome drink and nibbles. See to buy tickets.
