Ashmore residents are getting ready for this Friday’s ‘ancient and magical’ Filly Lou festival.
It is always held around summer solstice time. Jemma Morando tells Alfred about the origins of the event. She lists all the attractions, including children’s games and fire engine rides, a barbeque and a bar. And Jemma explains the time-honoured traditions that include the arrival of the Green Man, a torchlit procession and traditional dances.
“The procession and dances are accompanied by a haunting, atmospheric solo melody that’s in a minor key, which adds to the real magical effect,” says Jemma.
