Donkey And Shetland Sanctuary Owner Disappointed By Attitude Of Visiting Public

Shaftesbury’s equine sanctuary owner says she’ll restrict public access from the end of August because visitors have been disrespectful.

People visiting Donkey and Shetland’s Last Home on the A30 Sherborne Causeway have brought their food into the cafe, avoided paying the entrance fee, and littered the grounds. And Michelle Coffin says visitor numbers have tapered off since the visitor centre opened on three days each week last July.

Michelle says the insurance cost, enabling the public to visit, has increased. From this autumn, you’ll only be able to see the animals on Sundays if you pay £2.50 or sponsor one of the horses or donkeys.
