The Conservative candidate for the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner role wants to tackle pet theft.
David Sidwick says he’s spoken with Home Secretary Priti Patel about stricter penalties for people who steal dogs.
In December, Wiltshire Police told Alfred that dog theft was not a major issue in that county. But Mr Sidwick says the crime needs tackling because he’s spoken with worried Dorset residents. He explains what he would do if he is elected.
Labour has announced its candidate for the May contest – Patrick Canavan. The current Commissioner Martyn Underhill is not standing again.
The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) has also taken up the cause and you can take their online survey here.
