Lockdown Means More Shaftesbury Crime Occurs ‘Behind Closed Doors’ Says Inspector Simon Perry

Shaftesbury’s Neighbourhood Police Inspector has outlined his team’s latest local priorities.

Inspector Simon Perry says these targets were determined, in part, from responses to the Neighbourhood Policing Survey.

Reducing antisocial behaviour is the most pressing goal and Simon explains why signs featuring QR codes have been posted on The Maltings. Tackling drug dealing and reducing rural crime, including burglary, are another focus of officers in Shaftesbury and the villages.

Simon explains that lockdown has reduced the amount of ‘conventional crime’ in our area. Now, he says his team is tackling an increased proportion of crimes that occur ‘behind closed doors’.
