Scarecrows have started popping up in Motcombe, and there’s a royal theme to the annual scarecrow competition this year, to celebrate the Queen’s 70th Jubilee.

If you walk around the village, you’ll spot Prince William holding a deck of cards, King Richard the Lionheart and even effigies of two Motcombe posties, who work for the Royal Mail.

The scarecrows will continue to go up until the day of the village fete, on 4th June. And with more planned, Cllr Mandy Mason says we’re just getting a taste of what’s to come.
