Shaftesbury And Motcombe Pay Tribute To Prince Philip

Shaftesbury Town Council has marked an area of Park Walk where residents can place flowers and tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh.

The council is also preparing an online book of condolence. In Motcombe, villagers will find a book for their messages inside St Mary’s Church.

Motcombe explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell worked with HRH Prince Philip on Outward Bound projects. The Duke was particularly interested in John’s expeditions and Operation Raleigh, which John founded. John shares his memories of Prince Philip.

Peter Wells, leader of Shaftesbury’s Walking Group, also offers his tribute to the Prince. Peter recalls the time he met the Duke of Edinburgh.
