Shaftesbury Carnival and trustees of some of our town’s charity funds want to pay to install a dropped curb on Christy’s Lane at Barton Hill Field.
This will make access to the field easier and should reduce the risk of damage to vintage vehicles attending the Carnival’s annual show. A dropped curb could also reduce traffic congestion approaching the Ivy Cross roundabout because vehicles could quickly turn off the A350 onto the field.
Completing this work to Dorset Council’s satisfaction could cost £5,000. But some town councillors queried this significant expense.
