Shaftesbury Council Objects To New Housing Estate By Four Votes To One

Shaftesbury Town Council’s Planning Committee has maintained its opposition to plans to build up to 23 homes on Shaftesbury’s green slopes.

They objected to a Poole-based company’s previous proposals to develop a triangle of land alongside the Shaftesbury to Gillingham road at Enmore Court. That application was turned down last year by Dorset Council and in a subsequent planning appeal.

Civic Society member Charlotte MacKay told town councillors this development would ‘harm the character and appearance of the area’.

Cllr Phil Proctor believes the geology makes the proposed affordable home development too difficult to construct. Motcombe Council has also objected this week.
