You may have received a text message on Saturday evening warning that water pressure in Shaftesbury was reduced because the fire crew were using hydrants.
There was a minor fire, which didn’t require the use of much water, at Dorset Foods on Longmead Estate. The call-out came at 6.45pm.
Crew from Shaftesbury fire station were joined by their colleagues from Gillingham and Blandford. No factory staff were at risk and there are no suspicious circumstances. The crew were stood down at 8.30pm.
The Fire Service says that the text message is a standard warning that the water company sends out once they are made aware of an incident of this type.
