Shaftesbury School Student Named ‘Young Engineer Of The Year’

A 16-year-old Shaftesbury School student has been named ‘Young Engineer of the Year’.

The school has entered a partnership with the Satcom Innovation Group to help pupils gain an understanding of opportunities within industry through apprenticeships and future employment.

Satcom specialise in satellite communication, a field which fascinates Year 11 student James Pester. Students on Shaftesbury School’s STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) programme visited Airbus in Portsmouth recently and company officials were impressed by James’ understanding of their work and the questions he put to them.
