Shaftesbury Volunteer’s Poem Inspires Online Social Events For Locals With Autism

33-year-old Sebastian Foreman volunteers at Shaftesbury’s Cancer Research shop and joins the Walking for Health strolls around town. Sebastian is autistic and not all group activities are comfortable for him.

Windward provides day-care services for Dorset and Hampshire residents with learning disabilities. When they experimented with Zoom at the start of lockdown, Sebastian sent them a poem that explained how much he valued those online meetings.

Now his verse has inspired the launch of a daily programme of online events, which you can see here.

Sebastian tells us his story and reads his poem. Kelly Perry of Windward Day Services says this project would not have happened without Sebastian’s verse.
