Shaftesbury’s Medical Centre Can’t Order Flu Jab Promised To Over-Fifties

There is uncertainty whether Shaftesbury residents aged between 50 and 64 years will receive the flu jab during this flu season.

Jane Dawes, managing partner of Shaftesbury’s Abbey View Medical Centre, says her staff has been prevented from ordering the vaccinations. Locals have also reported being unable to pay for the vaccine at chemists.

Jane says there are still more at-risk patients who require a flu vaccination, but she won’t announce the schedule for their touring ‘flu bus’ until the surgery receives adequate numbers of flu vaccinations.

The launch of September’s drive-through clinic at Henstridge airfield was jeopardised when a promised consignment of vaccinations was cancelled at the eleventh hour.
