Shaftesbury’s Marathon Runner Sets An English Channel Rowing Challenge

Luke Hicks is Shaftesbury’s ‘marathon man’. He’s run 65 races of at least 26 miles duration since he recovered from a life-changing car accident in 2005.

Luke is running the London Marathon this autumn in support of the Headway charity which helped him. And Luke’s partner Catherine is starting a charity swim at Riversmeet pool this week as an additional fundraiser. Catherine is covering 22-miles, the distance across the English Channel.

Luke has arranged for Hawkers Hill gym to take rowing machines to the Ye Old Two Brewers pub for a challenge in July. He is looking for teams and individuals who want to compete to raise cash. You can support them here.
