St John Ambulance Shaftesbury President Upset By Hall Sale Decision

The local St John Ambulance president, Cllr Derek Beer, says he is ‘appalled and angry’ following the announcement that the organisation is closing their Shaftesbury headquarters.

Derek says he found out after the decision to sell ‘the very valuable site’ had been taken. He says local people have put a great deal into the charity and townspeople should have been consulted. “It’s been built and grown over the years with local input, not just cash, but effort and expertise. It is part of the town,” says Derek.

The charity’s PR officer has issued a statement that says the charity has reshaped its operations following the pandemic. They intend to rent meeting space in the area.
