Volunteers Making Sure Shaftesbury Area Children Don’t Go Hungry This Half Term

Over the weekend, two sisters have been working tirelessly arranging free lunch packs for schoolchildren in Shaftesbury, Motcombe and the villages.

Lucy and Amanda Boe want to ensure that no child goes hungry over half term. Lucy explains how she’s worked with around 25 volunteers to launch their half term kids lunch club in response to the government’s refusal to fund school lunches during holidays, while the coronavirus crisis continues.

Helpers will deliver the lunch bags, which contain a sandwich, crisps, sweet treat, fruit and veg and a drink, to outlying villages. Shaftesbury Youth Club will also be a pickup point between 11am and 12.30pm in our town.
