Herbalist Julie Wood On The Medical Benefits And Culinary Uses Of Gorse

Alfred’s East Stour-based medicinal herbalist Julie Wood tells us how gorse has been used over the centuries.

It was once suggested as a treatment for ‘people who have lost faith’. It works in salads and herbal teas, with its coconut taste and fragrance.

“I’ve also seen recipes for gorse flower wine, so it’s a perfect time now, as the gorse is coming into full bloom,” says Julie.
