St Edward’s Way – Plans To Launch Shaftesbury To Wareham Walking Route In 2021

The official opening of the Wareham to Shaftesbury St Edward’s Way was planned for March 2020. Sadly, it was cancelled because of coronavirus.

There are plans to reschedule the pilgrimage that followed the body of King Edward the Martyr in the tenth century. The event is now planned for the 11th, 12th and 13th of June 2021.

St Edward’s Way waymarkers have been installed.

But you can walk the 30-mile route now. Peter Wells and a group of volunteers have placed waymarkers, featuring Rachel Diment’s distinctive king’s head design, on fences and stiles along the walk.
