Nick Crump and Tom Perrett focus on the common swifts, which have just returned to their Shaftesbury colonies from Africa.
“Life for them is continuous summer. They want to be over in Africa and then in the summer they come over here because of the insects,” explained Nick.
The men discuss some of birds’ qualities. “As well as feeding on the wing, they also sleep on the wing and believe it or not, they copulate on the wing,” said Tom.
