Shaftesbury Environment And Tree Campaigner Publishes First Book

The stunning ancient woodlands at Duncliffe and Kingsettle will be in the spotlight thanks to Robin Walter’s new book, ‘Living with Trees’.

The Bimport climate change activist had the idea for this ‘optimistic’ book ten years ago. It tells the story of Britain’s woodland and tree planting through the centuries. Robin explains how the Forestry Commission’s policies altered the UK landscape and how the Woodland Trust aims to restore what was lost.

Many locals supported this book’s publication costs during a crowdsourcing campaign and Robin showcases the Shaftesbury Tree Group’s conservation and engagement work within his chapters.

Robin Walter with his new book

Robin tells Alfred about the challenge of publishing his first book, the national treasure who has written the book’s foreword and the Shaftesbury trees he considers to be ‘jewels’.

There will be an online book launch on Zoom at 7pm on 23rd November. Robin will read excerpts from his book during the event. You can register here.
