Concern That Christy’s Lane Beech Trees Have Been Damaged By Lidl Store Works

Members of Shaftesbury Tree Group are concerned that beech trees planted to mark the Queen’s Silver Jubilee have been damaged after their roots were allegedly cut by workers preparing the new Lidl store.

Works on Christy’s Lane

Tree expert Bernard Ede tells Alfred he would have expected mitigation measures to be in place before the work began. He says the trees lining the east side of Christy’s Lane may not now survive in the long term.

Dorset Council says it wasn’t them, and their planners are investigating.
