Pavement Café Culture Returns To Shaftesbury

Today, Shaftesbury’s High Street springs back to life, as non-essential essential shops and outdoor hospitality can serve customers once again.

Shaftesbury artist Anne-Louise Clara has given a spring makeover to Chamber of Commerce signs promoting our cafés and independent traders. Over the weekend, chamber volunteers have been placing these ‘welcome back’ signs on the main routes around Shaftesbury.

Emily Delport-King’s Seasons Café is one High Street business taking up Dorset Council’s offer of a free ‘sitting out’ licence. It allows Emily to offer outdoor dining with seating alongside the highway. “Fingers crossed, things are starting to come back to some form of normality,” says Emily.

Cllr Piers Brown oversees economic matters for Shaftesbury Town Council. He wants to, ‘encourage as many people as possible to support our diverse and local businesses’.
