Shaftesbury Licensees Say Early Closing Time Could Spread The Virus

All restaurants and bars must now close at 10pm and Shaftesbury residents seem to be going out earlier because of it.

Not all businesses are happy with the new closing time. David Griffin-Shepherd of La Fleur de Lys says it can spoil a special occasion if customers are ‘watching the clock’.

Sally Francis of Angola 76 and Nina Blackwell of The Half Moon and Ludwell’s Grove Arms suggest that the early last orders could spread the virus. Pubgoers continue their socialising and drinking in private homes where strict social distancing rules are not rigidly enforced.
