Shaftesbury’s temporary High Street pedestrianisation starts on Monday, 15th June and the street market returns on the 18th.
The road will be closed to most vehicles between 9am and 4pm every day. Shaftesbury Town Council business manager Brie Logan explains how bus travellers and disabled drivers can reach the shops when the road is shut to traffic.
Mrs Logan also talks about the role of the marshals, who will staff the barriers near The Grosvenor Arms and Angel Square.
There has been a high degree of support for this scheme on social media but not all locals and businesses agree with it. Brie tells us how shops have been informed of the road closure and how its success will be evaluated.
