A team of volunteers has put up Shaftesbury’s Christmas trees ready for the Christmas lights switch on the 29th of November.
The entire display is funded by local businesses and community donations. No money is received from the council or council tax. Organisers are planning another crowdfunding appeal this year to pay back some of the costs.
As Alfred heard from volunteers Rob Neely and James Thrift, the cost of trees has increased significantly in 2021. And Ollie Whitehead says his employer Wessex Internet is standing by to help put the star on the Christmas tree outside King Alfred’s Kitchen, if required.
