North Dorset Countryside Charity Opposed To Building In Our Protected Landscapes

Dorset has more land designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty than any other county.

56% of our land mass is an AONB, which could be considered one step down from a National Park. There are development controls within these areas but the chairman of the North Dorset branch of the countryside charity, the CPRE, is concerned that Dorset Council’s Local Plan will require building on some of these protected spaces.

The local authority is working towards a quota of 39,000 new homes over the next 17 years. Rupert Hardy opposes this plan. He tells us what he would like Dorset Council to do.
