Almost A Hundred Trees Planted In Shaftesbury

Over the last month, a team of volunteers from the Shaftesbury Tree Group have planted almost a hundred trees and 750 hedgerow saplings in our town’s open spaces.

They’ve done it to provide shade, a buffer from the wind and road pollution, to create wildlife habitats and to make the town look even better.

Robin Walter and Karen Wimhurst from Shaftesbury Tree Group

Group member Robin Walter tells Alfred where the trees have been planted and how you can help their growth if you live near a planting site. Sadly, the group didn’t plant ash at one of the planting locations, Ash Close. Robin explains why and tells us when planting will recommence.

Shaftesbury Town Council’s tree maintenance contractor has found a clever way of identifying each tree in his care, as you’ll hear.
