The Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team is keen to encourage people to consider their choice of outdoor lighting.
They don’t want light pollution jeopardising the area’s Dark Sky Reserve status. The area next to Shaftesbury is considered one of the darkest parts of southern Britain and perfect for stargazing.
Astronomer Steve Tonkin explains how volunteers are being recruited to spread the dark skies message and advise locals. A free session will be arranged on Wednesday.
