Compton Abbas Fly Past For Shaftesbury Battle Of Britain Commemoration

Harvard and Chipmunk planes took off from Compton Abbas Airfield and flew over Park Walk yesterday.

These aircraft were used to train pilots during WW2. The fly-past was timed to coincide with the Royal Air Force Association’s service to remember the sacrifices made during the Battle of Britain.

During his address the chaplain, Edred Bowman, read a poignant poem written by a North Dorset man who was a teenager in 1940.
