Motcombe-based author Rosie King, who writes under the pen name of Rosie Lear, published the fourth book in her mediaeval mystery series earlier this week.
The lead character Matthias Barton is a work of fiction, but authenticity is important to Rosie. She researches local history archives so she can accurately reflect 15th century Shaftesbury, Motcombe and Sherborne.
In our interview, Rosie paints a colourful picture of how different North Dorset life would have been during this period – including the unappealing food choices and the restricted clothing options.
