The Plan To Make Shaftesbury’s St Peter’s Church Redundant – Fifty Years On

Fifty years ago, Shaftesbury’s St Peter’s Church was declared redundant. John Parker tells Alfred about the history of the structure.

“It’s probably the oldest standing and used building in town. It’s been there for around 800 years,” says John.

He tells us why the decision to abandon the church was made and why it was later rescinded.
