A Semley councillor would like the Parish Council to be allowed to determine numbers of required new homes, rather than accept an allocation from Wiltshire Council.
Cllr Andrew Ebens spoke during a debate on Wiltshire’s Local Plan. A 2018 study revealed that most residents don’t want new home building in the parish. But the meeting raised concerns that Semley and Sedgehill will become a ‘dormitory’ settlement without affordable homes for families.
The recent trend for developing smaller homes into larger properties presents another challenge, the meeting heard.
