Councillors Doubt Government Assessment Of M4 To South Coast Roads Will Bring A350 Upgrade

The Highways Agency will assess the potential for improving the A350 and the other north to south road links between the M4 and the coast.

Yesterday, the government announced it was identifying road infrastructure projects that could be developed from 2030 onwards.

Dorset Council says they recognise the road through Fontmell and Compton is a major transport route. But the Dorset councillor for those villages, Jane Somper, doubts that the road will be upgraded.

Melbury Abbas Parish councillor Jenny Weston wants a bypass for the village, but as an alternative route has been proposed for almost a century, Jenny is also sceptical that this review will bring change.
