More information should have been given about a proposed care village for North Dorset featured in the Dorset Local Plan consultation document, according to Motcombe Parish Council.
Dorset residents have been asked to comment on the proposal to create 145 extra care units and 50 homes for keyworkers, elderly residents and people with disabilities on a health campus, ‘ideally’ in the Shaftesbury and Gillingham area.
Cllr Peter Mouncey says Motcombe Parish Council has written to Dorset Council to support the concept, although he doesn’t feel it should be built in Motcombe.
Shaftesbury’s Dorset councillor, Tim Cook, says he was unaware of the details of the project featured in Dorset Council’s Local Plan. Sara Froud and Jane Dawes, managers with the Blackmore Vale GP Partnership, had not been informed, either.
Dorset Council was unable to provide anybody for an interview, but they did tell Alfred: “We will consider consultation responses and amend the plan accordingly. Further consultation will take place later in the year.”
Cllr David Walsh, local plan lead member, hasn’t responded to our email or phone message of last week, yet.
