Dorset Council Could Absorb BCP’s ‘Challenging’ Housing Requirement

BCP Council is finding its quota for housebuilding ‘challenging’.

Dorset councillor David Walsh oversees planning and the Local Plan. He told Tuesday’s Dorset Council meeting that BCP may ask Dorset Council to take on some of the BCP quota for new homes.

Yesterday’s meeting was read a letter from Prof Michael Dower. He warns that large areas of Dorset’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty could be built on if Dorset Council provides land for more than 39,000 new houses between now and 2038. He said the actual number of homes required is considerably lower and Dorset Council should oppose the target.
