The disruption caused by heavy goods vehicles getting stuck on Shaftesbury’s St John’s Hill could soon be at an end.
Dorset Council has agreed to start the process for introducing a 7.5-tonne weight limit on this steep stretch of the B3091. This follows fifteen years of campaigning by resident Peter Shouler, and Shaftesbury Town Council’s formal request for a weight restriction last summer.
We speak with Mr Shouler and town councillor John Lewer to hear their reaction.
