HGV Ban Closer As Council Moves To Protect St John’s Hill Pedestrians

Shaftesbury Town councillors are worried about the safety of pedestrians who walk from St John’s Hill to Bimport.

Cllr Tim Cook hopes that Dorset Council will put up safety signage to warn drivers. He told Tuesday’s Recreation and Open Spaces meeting that it might be better if walkers were encouraged to find another route.

Tim says Peter Shouler’s 15-year campaign for a 7.5 tonne weight limit to prevent HGVs getting stuck on St John’s Hill may soon achieve its goal.
