A countryside charity is concerned about a hike in Dorset housebuilding targets.
The Dorset branch of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) understands that the government will increase Dorset’s quota for new homes by 45%.
Cllr David Walsh oversees planning for Dorset Council, and he disputes that figure, but says there will be an increase. Neighbouring BCP Council looks unlikely to meet their new build target so Dorset Council may have to find space for BCP’s allocation.
CPRE chairman Peter Bowyer argues that new homes should be affordable and built for locals rather than retiring newcomers.
Cllr Walsh responds.
