If You Live In Dorset Your Council Tax Is Going Up – Probably

Dorset Council says they have a £36 million budget gap next year.

They intend to make £4.5 million in savings, but residents of Shaftesbury and the villages will be asked to fork out more money to help council finances.

This week, councillors proposed increasing your bills by 3% – that’s a 2% council tax hike and an additional 1% charge for the social care precept. A number of committees will need to rubber stamp these approvals before they send the bills out in the spring.
