Shaftesbury Town Council Won’t Fund Sports Club This Time – Grant Goes To Low-Cost Shop

Shaftesbury Town Council has considered two more grants under their community fund programme.

Shaftesbury Cricket Club wants to erect a brown sign on the triangle of land on the B3091 at St James’ Common to increase awareness of the club. Dorset Highways have approved this, but the Town Council chose not to fund the £420 cost. You’ll find out why in our report.

The council is giving £1,500 to The Vale Pantry, a low-cost social supermarket in Sturminster Newton. They provide affordable shopping for around forty Shaftesbury-area families each week. The project’s weekly food bill is £1,500.
